2015 is upon us! It's going to be a good year, I feel it in my bones!
I just turned 32 yesterday and I really do think this is going to be a good year. It was an awesome birthday, I got so much rad stuff, Tardis backpack and cookie jar, shirts, gummy bears, star wars poster, star trek glasses, a new bike, tickets to see Newsies. I'm really lucky to have cool people in my life that love me!
We are officially signed up for two conventions so far this year. In March we will be returning to ConDor in San Diego. Super stoked, we had a lot of fun last year. We'll be offering some new stuff too. Lots in the works
The other is the Intergalactic Expo in May in Sacramento. It's a newer convention, but it's all sci fi based so I'm super excited. I've been working on sewing some new stuff, specifically for this show, so I hope it's a hit!
I wish we could do more conventions and events but as small as we are now, the travel usually kills us. But we're keeping our eyes out for new things to do and expand.
I will be at SD Comic Con again this year, so I'm working on costume ideas and will definitely post here.
We did attend a tiny Con in Petaluma a couple weeks ago. I took a good friends daughter, who is super into Anime and hadn't been to a convention. She loved it. it was fun taking a younger person and watching them take it all in. They had a lot of things for kids to do, like paper crafts to make your own comic and things like that. Could grow in to a really fun con.
Looking forward to what this year has in store for us!!

San Diego Comic Con 2014
Friday was the next day of Comic Con. We only had a couple of panels on our wish list, Cosplay 101 and Falling Skies. It was our first cosplay day! We were dressed as Ghostbusters and I made Camille a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man costume! We had a bit of a fight getting it on her. Once it was on thought she was fine and away we went. We headed to Nerd HQ first, checked out all they had to offer and took some pics
We headed to Cosplay 101, which had some cool information. One of the panelist was actually someone we met at ConDor! We recognized his awesome cool arm. I wish I had gotten a picture of him! After that the Falling Skies panel was awesome. Most of the main characters were there, it was great to hear them talk about what they hoped for their characters. By that time, I think i was dying. It was SO FRAKING HOT in our ghostbuster coveralls. Sweaty! But it was super fun to be a group. We saw a couple other awesome cosplays:
Saturday was my day! JOHN BARROWMAN DAY!!! That was all I really cared about. Camille and I were both dressed as a TARDIS. We wandered the exhibit hall, Kieran bought some art, I bought some boots then we headed to the Indigo ballroom to see Defiance, Nerdist and John Barrowman. All AWESOME panels. Camille was tired/fussy during Defiance so we went for a walk and wandered around. When we came back we went to where the Defiance cast was, just to see them. Camille dropped her Barbie on the other side of a roped off area. Grant Bowler (Nolan on Defiance) walked by and saved her Barbie. He said how cute she was and airplaned her Barbie to her. She's always making famous friends! John Barrowman was great too, he is always so fun. He answered a ton of questions, we got to ask him about his books, if there was a chance of a graphic novel or live action version. His answer was a definite maybe! Awesome!! After that we went back to the Exhibit Hall, took a picture with a White Walker, Baymax, and some Star Trek guys. Camille also started saying Spiderman. Apparently she's a big fan!
Sunday was our last day (insert sad face). It was Jayne hat day! I knit 5 Jayne hats and I'm still totaly over yellow and orange. OVER IT. But it was aweosme. My mom, Camille and I wore shirts that said WWJD What Would Jayne Do? It was great to see all the people that Got it. Sadly we got quite a few "who is Jayne" but we quickly learned them good. Awesome buddy Kieran got there before us and got in line for me to get John Barrowmans signature! YAY! But I ran all the way there from the trolley so I was pretty gross and sweaty when I got there. But whatever! He signed Camille's TARDIS Dress! IT"S AWESOME!!! Then we turned the corner and there was Jamie Bamber!! Be still by BSG heart!! He was so handsome and sweet. LOVE HIM. I had him sign my BSG shirt. Then later in the day I got Richard Hatch to sign it! Both Appolo's on one shirt!! New favorite possesion! We just wandered around and saw what we could see Sunday. My mom and I really checked out the Artists Alley, there were so many awesome awesome artists.
I think next year I will try to blog each day so I can really remember each day. Our hotel/condo didn't have wi-fi so I didn't get a chance to, but next year I think it'll be worth it!
I can't wait for next year!! I want to start planning our cosplay now! and I think we may hit up some other Cons before then. Maybe see what northern California has to offer!

San Diego Comic Con ........ Part 1
My comic con trek began around 4am on Wednesday the 23rd. We had a bright at early flight from Northern California to southern. My husband drove my mom, daughter and myself to the tiny airport and away we went. Luckily Camille slept pretty much the whole flight. We landed in LAX, made a Disney pit stop to have breakfast with a friend and then headed to San Diego. We got our passes and settled into our condo. My brother in law picked us up and took us to dinner at a burger place called Hodad's. It was DELICIOUS. tons of food, really good, and awesome music. You just don't hear Danzig at restaurants much. Shame, really.
Thursday I was really excited for a Battlestar Gallactica panel. It sort of ended up being mostly just a Richard Hatch talking about Richard Hatch panel, but it is what it is. I wore my BSG tank top and loved seeing the few BSG cosplayers. mostly blonds playing Starbuck. I was hoping for one hot lady to be 6, but no luck.
By this time, we had most of our group assembled. We wandered the exhibits for a while after that panel, taking in our first day. We played with legos!
Two in our group are pretty big LOTR fans, so we headed to to an Unofficial Hobbit panel. We got there early and got to listen to George RR Martin discuss his books a bit. It was good timing for me because I watch Game and Thrones and have just started book one on audio during my work commutes. It was cool to hear him talk about the differences between the books and show and about all his other works.
I also got a surprise visitor that night! While heading out to dinner, Kieran surprised me by bringing Amanda! I hadn't seen her in like forever and it was the best surprise.
That was pretty much our first day. I'll leave you with some random pictures I took Thursday:

ConDor Convention San Diego 2014
We had so much fun!!!!! We didn't even get to do any of the panels or things of that nature, but we still had a total blast. Here's a recap and some pictures!
We arrived Friday night. Our friend Kristen joined us and rounded out the Nerdsketeers. Camille was our fourth Nerdsketeer. The con was open on Friday but due to my day job, I wasn't able to get off that day. So we drove down after work. Saturday we got up early and hussled downstairs only to have to wait for the Dealer room to be opened. We evenetually got ourselves set up and were pretty proud of our offerings!
Throughout the day we met so many awesome people! We were lucky enough to get to sit next to Lady Mari, who was dressed as a vampire Effie Trinket. She was an awesome neighbor! You can check her out HERE! Here she is with Amber on Sunday:
Saturday also brought about meeting the author James Matlack Raney, author of Jim Morgan and the King of Thieves. He complimented Camille on her Star Wars shirt and that pretty much won us over. I bought his book and had him sign it to Camille. I swear, this girl charms all the handsome authors! He was really sweet and even took a pic with us
I sat with a gentleman who was telling me about his HUGE Sci fi book collection and gave me a bunch of great recomendations to read! Saturday night we went out to dinner then came back to our hotel room. We pretty much just hung out on our balcony watching the people below, drinking the "pink juice", laughing and singing. Lots of singing. We apologize for any of the rooms within earshot :-) We did go for a little midnight field trip, walked around the hotel, met some characters along the way :-)
Sunday was another dealer day. I got to make a few mirrors and magnets that were exactly what people wanted which was really cool. I love making the magnets and mirrors and keychains. It's so fun. I had some girls go through all the pictures I had on hand and they picked out which ones they wanted! I made them there on the spot. We had another guy want the Firefly cast and some Star Trek so I made them for him. He was one of my favorite customer of the day because he left us with this word gem "Booth Barnacle". As in "I don't want to be a booth barnacle and hang around all day" HA! I love it.
And then we met Peter Beagle. He was amazing. Seriously the nicest man ever. He told us stories, laughed and smiled at Camille, and was just all around a great guy to hang with. Here he is with Amber:

There were tons of other great characters, we just didn't get enough pictures! Next time we will take TONS more pictures! We just kept oohing and ahhing over costumes and outfits! We started coming up with nicknames for our favorites. Jumanji and Fantasy were big hits with us! Here's a couple more pics of some cool ones:
^ He had a pack on his back and his wings popped out. Le sigh.
^ His arm made cool sounds!

I can't wait to do it again next year and do many more Cons! If you know of any that you've been to and love, let us know! We want to branch out!
Also, I promise to work on our website this week, so stay tuned!! :-)
